Founded in 1987, PLEAC is a non-profit organization with the following goals:
1. to support communication and cooperation between individuals and groups interested in public legal education, 2. to encourage the development of knowledge and skills in this field, and 3. to act as a national voice and advocate on issues that concern Public Legal Education Association of Canada members.
Any individual or organization promoting, developing, or supporting public legal education can join The Public Legal Education Association of Canada. Among other things, it holds an annual conference offering members to join others in professional development activities.
