How can I repair my bad credit?Region: Ontario Answer Number: 0289
Paying off any outstanding loans or unpaid debts will improve your credit score. Another step you can take to “repair” your credit rating is to reduce the number of credit cards you have. High interest credit accounts offered by department stores, hardware stores, and gas companies are often viewed as undesirable by major lenders, such as banks. And, your credit rating will improve if you pay your bills promptly and always meet payment due dates.
If you are rejected for credit by a business or lender, find out why. It may have nothing to do with an error in your credit report. Rather, the creditor may simply have higher requirements for income or credit scores.
