Region: Ontario Answer # 2809To apply for a paralegal licence with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), all applicants must have graduated from a Law Society accredited Paralegal Education Program, which must be from a college approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
What is the CIMT College Paralegal Diploma Program?
Graduates of the LSO accredited 43-week, full time Paralegal Diploma Program at CIMT College will have acquired a variety of skills allowing them to work in the legal field, including:
- Case research and writing
- Evidence gathering
- Witness preparation
- Advocacy
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
After passing the LSO licensing exam to become independent paralegals, graduates may represent clients in a number of areas, such as:
- Small Claims Court
- Immigration Refugee Board
- Human Rights Tribunal
- Custody Review Board
- Summary Conviction Criminal Court
- Provincial Offences Court
- Landlord Tenant Board
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission
- Criminal Injuries Compensation Board
Admission requirements
