The Law Clerk program at Georgian College is a two-year Ontario College Diploma program.  Graduates are prepared for career opportunities in a wide variety of legal environments, including law firms, Federal, Provincial and Municipal Government offices, corporations, insurance institutions, real estate offices, and other businesses.

Courses and skills taught include:

Drafting legal correspondence and memoranda

  • Preparing various court documents
  • Real Estate Law
  • Corporate Law
  • Civil Litigation
  • Family Law
  • Personal Injury Law
  • Contracts and Torts
  • Legal Office Administration

 

Admission requirements

Minimum admission requirements include:

  • OSSD or equivalent with
    • Grade 12 English (C or U)
  • Mature students, non-secondary school applicants (19 years or older), and home school applicants may also be considered for admission. Eligibility may be met by applicants who have taken equivalent courses, upgrading, completed their GED, and equivalency testing

  • Full-time or part-time study
  • Experiential learning through a field placement
  • Pathways: Applicants who have taken courses from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution and/or have relevant life/learning experience may also be considered for admission
