Abortion is legal in Canada, but doctors and hospitals are not legally obliged to perform an abortion. One province, Prince Edward Island, does not supply abortion services in its hospitals or clinics, but may reimburse women who go elsewhere for the procedure. Depending on the province, the cost of an abortion performed at a clinic may be fully or partially covered, and sometimes not covered at all.
