Can cannabis beverages be sold?

Region: Ontario Answer # 2443

Cannabis beverages refer to drinks that are infused with THC and CBD cannabis extracts. They fall under the “edibles” category of cannabis products. Common cannabis beverages are beer, wine, coolers and cocktails, but also popular are coffee, tea and pop.

New Health Canada regulations, which include strict packaging and labelling requirements, came into effect October 17, 2019 and allow licensed producers to submit their edible cannabis products to Health Canada in preparation of the legal sale of them to the public. Once submitted, the products are subject to a 60-90 day approval and procurement process.

As of approximately mid-December, cannabis edibles (including beverages), extracts, and concentrates will be legally for sale.
