How old must you be to legally grow cannabis?

Region: Ontario Answer # 2461

Growing recreational cannabis at home is illegal in Manitoba and Quebec.

In Alberta you must be at least 18 years old.

In all other provinces and territories, the legal age to grow cannabis is 19.

Under the Cannabis Act, individuals of legal age can grow up-to 4 plants per residence (not per person) for personal use. It should be noted that, while federal and certain provincial laws permit growing cannabis at home, landlords, condominium boards, and housing agreements may impose additional restrictions.

Also, the plants must be grown from seeds or seedlings bought from licensed cannabis sellers, including government-run online or retail sites, or provincially licensed private retail stores or online sites.
