Answer # 2175
Is a separate Record Suspension required for each conviction?
Region: Ontario Answer # 2175A separate Record Suspension (RS) is not required for each conviction. As long as the individual completed the punishment imposed by the court, and no subsequent criminal behaviour is recorded, all convictions can be simultaneously removed and sealed once the eligibility requirements have been met. An RS is an all-or-nothing proposition, meaning that it will not be ordered for any of the convictions, unless each of the convictions has reached its eligibility date.
Once a criminal record exists, it is up to the individual to take the proper steps to have the record removed.
