Area of Law: Cannabis Law
Answer # 2583
Is it legal for you to be tested for cannabis at the Canada - U.S. border?
Region: Ontario Answer # 2583No. Even if U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Officers suspect you may be impaired by cannabis while attempting to cross the border, they cannot legally perform a drug test on you. They can ask you questions, and they can legally search you. If they find you are attempting to cross with cannabis or cannabis products, either for recreational or medicinal use, you could face serious penalties under both Canadian and U.S. laws.
