Who is entitled to protective services?
Region: Ontario Answer # 1931Every province provides protective services for children. To be entitled to those services, the individual must be under the age of majority in all provinces except in the following provinces where the age is 16:
- Ontario
- Nova scotia
- New Brunswick
- Northwest Territories
- Yukon
- Nunavut
Child, Youth and Family Services Act
There are federal, provincial and territorial laws to protect children from abuse. In Ontario, child protection is dealt with in section III of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act. Refer to the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
