The Action Group (TAG) 2018 Access to Justice Week



Ian Levine and Antree Demakos participated in the 2018 TAG Access to Justice week where free legal answers and hotline services were singled out as a necessary for any, and all, help that follows.

In 2015, the Law Society of Ontario established The Action Group on Access to Justice (TAG) “to facilitate better coordination and collaboration across the justice sector.”

Ontario’s third annual Access to Justice Week (A2J Week) took place October 22 – 26 and profiled leading innovation in the Access to Justice movement driven by communities with connections to the justice sector. Opening remarks were provided by Malcolm Mercer, Treasurer of the Law Society of Ontario.

The week featured panel discussions and workshops with experts leading the way in improving access to justice, and featured sessions focusing on the following areas:

Mental Health, Access and Ethics; Indigenous Language Speakers and the Canadian Justice System; Mentorship, Networking and Access to Justice; the Access to Legal Representation in Family Law Gap; and Justice, Innovation and Community.
