Why would you be served documents by a process server?

Region: Ontario Answer # 3005

The only reason a process server would serve you documents is because someone is suing you or you are a party in a legal proceeding. This could be during a divorce, for child support, in a small claims matter, or any other legal matter. It is the job of the process server to find you and serve you, meaning giving you notice of the legal action, delivering the court documents, or notifying you of any deadlines for responding.
