What rights do Canadians have regarding their personal data collected at a European border?

Region: Ontario Answer # 6208

When your personal data is collected and stored by the EES, you have the right to:

  • Request from the controller access to data relating to you
  • Request that inaccurate or incomplete data is corrected
  • Request that unlawfully processed personal data that concern you is erased and/or request that specific data are not processed

How to exercise your rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact a data controller (e.g. the entity responsible for processing your data) or data protection officer in the European countries using the EES, to which you travelled.

You can find a full list and contact information for the European countries using the EES here.
