Who can prepare a Separation Agreement?
Region: Ontario Answer # 0110Separation Agreements can be prepared in one of three ways:
- Spouses to prepare their own Separation Agreement, or
- Spouses can hire lawyers to prepare their Separation Agreement; or
- Spouses can use Legal Line’s Separation Agreement builder to prepare their Separation Agreement in as little as 10 minutes.
Ontario’s Family Law Act mandates that a Separation Agreement must be in writing and signed by both parties. It must also be witnessed by an individual who is at least 18 years old. This witness cannot be a party to the Agreement.
