Region: Ontario Answer # 2816To apply for a paralegal licence with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), all applicants must have graduated from a Law Society accredited Paralegal Education Program, which must be from a college approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
What is the Herzing College Paralegal Diploma Program?
Once licensed, graduates of the LSO accredited 1-year Paralegal Diploma Program at Herzing College are qualified to work in government, law firms, corporate legal departments, or in their own practice. Courses cover a wide variety of subjects, including:
- Torts and Contracts
- Advocacy
- Residential Landlord and Tenant Law
- Legal Research and Writing
- Legal Computer applications
Admission requirements
- Minimum of a Canadian high school grade 12 or equivalent (Ontario high school diploma or equivalent) or a mature student
- Pass an entrance test administered by Herzing College
- Be interviewed in detail regarding interest in the field
- Admission to some programs may include additional requirements
Course delivery
- 12-month program
- 4-week internship
Once students have completed all the requirements of this program and have received a certificate, they are eligible to apply for admission to the LSO’s paralegal licensing process.
