Region: Ontario Answer # 2823To apply for a paralegal licence with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO), all applicants must have graduated from a Law Society accredited Paralegal Education Program, which must be from a college approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
What is the St. Clair College Paralegal Diploma Program?
Graduates of the LSO accredited two-year Paralegal College Diploma Program at St. Clair College School of Community Studies will qualify to write the Law Society licensing examination and become a licensed paralegal in the province.
Courses include:
- Legal computer applications
- Small Claims Court procedure
- Administrative law
- Legal writing and research
- Torts and contracts
- Tribunal practice and procedure
- Ethics and rules of professional conduct
- Advocacy
Admission requirements
- OSSD (majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level qualify for admission to this program
OR
- Mature student
Course delivery
The program includes:
- office simulation mock hearings and trials
- computer-based assignments in the computer lab
- 140 hour work placement
- opportunity to work in the St Clair College Forms Completion Clinic
Paralegal Accelerated Program
Applicants with a College Diploma or substantial completion of a University Degree may apply to Paralegal – Accelerated Two Year – Ontario College Diploma delivered in 15 months
